Why can plastering be so expensive ?
We get asked this alot...Plastering is a highly-skilled trade that requires a lot of time. It also involves good time management when working with a substance that "sets".
Here are a few key reasons why the costs can be high:
Skill & Experience
A smooth, flawless plaster finish takes a good few years to perfect. Good plasters are in demand and they are priced accordingly.
Labour-intensive work
The job can be physical. Mixing plaster and applying it quickly before it sets while working on both ceilings and walls can be difficult. Jobs often take multiple coats and visits.
Time pressure
As you might know, plaster has a short working time before it hardens, so speed and accuracy is essential.
Preparation and Clean-up
We pride ourselves on clean-up in this trade as well as preparation. All play keys parts in a smooth finish. Sometimes areas require repairs before the final finish.
Overheads
Typical overhead costs us plasters face is labourers, vehicle costs and material costs too. Travel time between jobs and managing a slick business definitely endures its costs.
